THE 13 NATIONAL PARKS OF GABON

On september 04th 2002, the former President Omar Bongo Ondimba at the Summit of Earth in Johannesburg, announced the creation of 13 National Parks in Gabon. In a world where wilderness authenticity and uniqueness are scarce, Gabon, so called Last Eden on earth, preserved 11% of terrritory which represent 30000 km2. Gabon Parks has the most concentration of forest elephants in the Continent, with thousand of different birds, including Low land gorillas, bufalloes, chimpanzes, mandrills and so.
AKANDA National Park, located to the northeast of the capital (Estuaire) with an area of 540 km².

The BIRIGOU National park, located in southern Gabon on the Congolese border shared between the provinces of Ngounié and Ogooué Lolo, with an area of 690 km².

IVINDO National Park, located in the center of Gabon in the province of the same name (Ogooué Ivindo), with an area of 3000 km².

LOANGO national park, located in the Ogooué-Maritime with 1550m ² of area.

LOPE National park also located in the province of Ogooué Ivindo, with an area of 4970 km².

MAYUMBA National Park, located in the province of Nyanga with 80 km².

MINKEBE National Park, located in part of Woleu-Ntem and Ogooué Ivindo with 7560 km² (is the largest park in Gabon).

MONTS DE CRISTAL National Park, located in the province of Estuaire with 1200 km².

MOUKALABA-DOUDOU National Park, located in the province of Nyanga with 4500 km².

MWAGNA National Park, located in the province of Ogooué Ivindo with 1160 km².

The National park PLATEAUX BATEKE, located in the province of Haut-Ogooué with 2050 km².

PONGARA National Park, located in the province of Estuaire with 870 km².

WAKA National Park, located in the province of Ngounié with 1070 km
